Dallas Chamber Symphony

The Dallas Chamber Symphony (DCS) engages community audiences and enriches people’s lives by sharing in the discovery, creation, exploration, and enjoyment of great music. A mid-sized, nimble organization, the DCS was founded in 2011 by Dr. Richard McKay to bridge the gap between Dallas' traditional chamber music presenters and larger organizations that focus primarily on full symphonic and operatic literature.

The first ensemble to call the intimate Dallas City Performance Hall home, the DCS presents familiar and underperformed works and is known for its critically acclaimed imaginative concerts and partnerships. The ensemble engages many young, first-time concertgoers. Part of the ensemble's success is due to collaborative partnerships with living composers and other arts organizations, including Video Fest Dallas and Bruce Wood Dance Project.  The subscription series features chamber orchestra pieces for 8 to 40 musicians, giving audiences an intimate experience with performers less available through larger halls or ensembles.  The Sight Of Sound film competition, along with additional silent film score commissions, combines classical music with visual art and engages living artists in the creative process.  To date the DCS has commissioned and premiered over 9 new works.  The DCS is passionate about music education.  It annually hosts the Dallas International Piano competition and provides TechNotes Music Education to area schools; these programs provide unique educational programming for Dallas students and the larger international community.
