Barking Rocks Winery

Small batches of premium wines are being handcrafted in an old rock barn located between historic Granbury and Thorp Springs. A native Texan has joined the son of Italian immigrants and are combining "jeans and genes" to provide Lone Star grapes a path to achieve their highest calling. Stories about the journey can be heard at Barking Rocks.
We have renovated a rock cattle barn built by Donald Bird in 1968 for the Helen Knox ranch. We tried to remove the manure and retain the charm. Wood from old barns located in Granbury and Comanche provided the materials for the job. It has been a great facility to craft wine with friends.
The building sets on 4.4 acres. There is 1350 square feet of open space under air and heat, in addition there is a bathroom and a small office with a sink for limited cleanup and storage.
Depending on the stage of wine making some of this space may be occupied from time to time.

There are porches, shade trees, an arbor, a fire pit, and a windmill.A full 80 foot covered porch looks toward the pasture and beyond.
The winery is open for tastings, talks, and sales every Saturday afternoon, also by appointment or by chance. We offer tastings of our wines for $5, a 7% discount on all in house sales, 10% discount on single variety cases, other specials and a wine club.
