The New Collection

A non-profit 501(c)(3) this newest a cappella jazz group, is dedicated to promoting the art of vocal jazz.

The New Collection is an exciting community based a cappella vocal jazz ensemble under the inspired direction of the legendary Paris Rutherford. Now in retirement from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, Mr. Rutherford is a Regents Professor Emeritus in Jazz Studies. For over 30 years, he developed and directed the award-winning UNT Jazz Singers both in performance and recording. With over 100 jazz arrangements in publication, this sought after vocal jazz leader is putting his efforts and energy back into the community.

Entering its fifth year, this extraordinary 28 voice jazz ensemble is exciting audiences of all ages with their music. Improvised vocal solos, vocal percussion and group scat singing like you have never imagined will fill the room. The New Collection's repertoire includes well-known jazz standards, bebop, tender ballads and jazz-infused popular music, arranged by Paris Rutherford and other top writers.
