Habitat for Humanity of South Collin County

How can there be a need for housing in wealthy Collin County?

Habitat for Humanity of South Collin County's service area includes Plano, Allen, Trinity Park, Lucas, Wylie, Murphy, Parker, Lowry Crossing, Fairview, Saint Paul, and their rural areas - approximately 400 square miles.

This area's population of 659,457 has the highest median income ($74,333) of any county in Texas. In fact, Collin County has the 17th highest median income in the US (2004 US census figures).

And yet, approximately 36,000 families in the county have incomes below $45,000 per year, and 31% of renters in our area pay more than 30% of their annual income for rent. 5% of those persons live below the poverty level as defined in the US census. Download our brochure (pdf).

This year Habitat for Humanity of South Collin County will build ten homes with the help of individuals, organizations, churches, and companies. You can help! Donate time, money or materials (see our 2008 Wish List.) Volunteer to build a home, join a committee, or work with your organization to sponsor a house.

We at Habitat for Humanity of South Collin County are committed to providing decent, affordable housing to deserving families in our service area in South Collin County, Texas.

The Habitat for Humanity of South Collin County (HfH-SCC) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.

In addition to the over 2,500 individual volunteers who have helped us over the last several years, we owe a huge thank you to the many organizations, churches and business who are our partners.
